The Chartbook is published by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of International Labor Affairs. The statistical indicators included in the comparisons are; gross domestic product per capita, labor market, competitiveness indicators for manufacturing and other labor related indicators.
An annual review by BP, the site provides statistical data on energy trends worldwide. Information provided includes consumption, production and prices. Reports are available for downloading and printing.
CenTradeX provides trade information on 200 countries, all 50 U.S. States, and millions of companies worldwide. Users may search via company name, product keywords, Harmonized Codes, NAICS Codes, SIC Codes, or an alphabetized list of products. The search results are then graphically displayed with the top 10 import and markets worldwide for the search term. Other displays and information can be obtained such as import and export trends, numbers of units sold to various markets, and the price per unit (PPU) and dollar values of sales. User must contact the company in order to access the information provided.
CIA: World Factbook
The World Factbook is produced annually by the Central Intelligence Agency for the use of US Government officials, and the style, format, coverage, and content are designed to meet their specific requirements. The documents contain all vital information and statistics, under the following headings: Geography; People; Government; Economy; Communications; Transportation; Military; and Transnational Issues.
CIESIN is an organization dedicated to making information available to a wide range of users-researchers, policy makers, and the public. Focus is on the changing relationship between human beings and the environment. Site includes their own research and statistics as well as a gateway to some of World Bank's data.
The Davidson Data Center and Network (DDCN) is located within the William Davidson Institute at the University of Michigan Business School and is jointly funded by the National Science Foundation and the William Davidson Institute. DDCN is an integrated, fully searchable online database on transition and emerging markets. It has three main components: a data locator, an archive and a clearinghouse. DDCN facilitates the discovery of existing data sets, preserves and makes widely available micro data and macro statistics from these economies free of charge.
The Doing Business Indicators compare the economies of 155 countries based on a wide variety of statistics, from credit availability to cross-border trading. Also available for download are reports highlighting different aspects of international business development.
DOLPHN is a data resource created by USAID, which contains statistical information on health and demographic information for selected countries. This data set represents the most frequently used statistics.

The World Bank Group Entrepreneurship Database collects cross-country business entry data directly from business registries. World Steel in Figures is a publication of the International Iron and Steel Institute (IISI). The site has statistical data showing current and historical trends in world steel production and consumption.
A comprehensive database of key indicators, the World Economic Outlook Database is created during the biannual World Economic Outlook (WEO) exercise. The data is the product of a comprehensive interdepartmental review of world economic developments, which draws primarily on information the IMF staff gathers through its consultations with member countries.

The International Data Base is provided by the U.S. Census Bureau's International Programs Center (IPC). It is a computerized data bank containing statistical tables of demographic and socio-economic data for 226 countries and areas of the world.
Global Employment Trends, published by the ILO examines the changing context in which women and men are trying to achieve income security for themselves and their families. The data include such items as global employment/unemployment and other key features of a global economy and its impact on labor conditions. Also listed under Publications.
This application allows the user to access data from the International Labour Organization Bureau of Statistics. The resource includes country level labor-related data covering employment, unemployment, productivity, wages, injuries, and more. The database covers some 200 countries and includes information used to publish the Yearbook of Labour Statistics. Statistics are available from 1969 and can also be downloaded.
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is the leading United Nations agency for information and communication technologies. The Market Information and Statistics page provides data on a number of different areas in telecommunications dating back as far as 1992.
The International Trade Data Network provides data on exporting and importing. It also provides links to resources such as global relations, information for small businesses and industry-specific news. Subscription is required to use the full data network, but free trials are available.
A statistical database, provided by UNCTAD/WTO International Trade Centre, that can be browsed by using a drop-down menu to select a specific country. Each country page includes tables and graphs based on detailed trade statistics benchmarking the national trade (export and import) performance of the country, and provides several indicators on export supply and import demand. Nationmaster.com is a tool that allows users to compare various statistics across nations. It offers many rankings ranging from the richest and most populous countries to most generous and most athletic countries, and provides these rankings in graphical format as well. Published by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), this extract from the OECD Factbook presents more than 100 indicators covering the 30 member countries that constitute the membership of the OECD.
This resource provided by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), it attempts to explain the often confusing Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) comparison across countries. It shows how data were collected and analyzed to create PPP. The site also includes a very useful FAQ section, which answers almost any question that could arise regarding PPP. Also includes PPPs for OECD countries and other statistics provided by the OECD.
The Statistics Directorate provides statistics on a myriad of topics such as ‘international trade in services’. Also, numerous publications are available like case studies, reports, and country surveys, among others. Finally, there are country-specific information including either statistics or publications.
The OFFSTAT web site is an index of resources providing general and country-specific statistical information. The listed web pages mainly come from statistical offices, central banks, or government departments, and contain social, economic and general data.
The Penn World Tables provided by Computing in the Humanities and Social Sciences (CHASS) at the University of Toronto, include purchasing power parity and national income accounts converted to international prices for 188 countries for some or all of the years 1950-2004.
An interactive data query tool from the Population Reference Bureau, providing a wide variety of data including several variables under population, employment, health, education, and environment categories. It is also possible to see specific data profiles by selecting a country or U.S. state from the drop down menus.
Political Risk Services (PRS) provides current political, social and economic data and country risk ratings on 100 countries. Domestic and economic indicators, risk ratings, forecasts, geographic and political data, social indicators are all provided. The site only offers a number of samples for free and rest of the information must be purchased on a data-by-data basis.
Resources for Economists on the Internet is a comprehensive site listing starting points for economic data research. Information ranges from data, statistics, books, and meetings to blogs, software, and job advice. It lists over 2,000 resources in 97 sections and sub-sections.
Social Watch provides a quick report on the present situation of each country listed for various social issues. They also track, by key indicator, the progress or regression each country has made from their condition the previous year. Lastly, they provide the country's status on treaties and conventions related to social issues.
Although targeted for the Finnish speaker (countries ordered by Finnish name with English name provided), the site gives international statistical data for 241 countries in downloadable Excel files.
As a subsection of the Bank for International Settlements site, BIS International Financial Statistics provides a wide range of statistical data regarding the global financial system, such as cross-border lending and borrowing, operations in the global foreign exchange markets, and external debt positions of individual countries.

In 1998, a joint meeting of the UN, the OECD, and the World Bank proposed 21 indicators to track progress towards international development goals. Now, the World Development Indicators is the World Bank's premier annual compilation of data about development. Information is organized into six sections: worldview, people, environment, economy, states and markets, and global links. WDI 2008 includes more than 800 indicators and covers 153 economies. The World Development Report is an annual publication of the World Bank that focuses on a different specific topic every year. The World Freedom Atlas is a visual representation of world statistics for the years 1990-2006. Datasets including over 300 variables come from NGOs and IGOs concerned with freedom, democracy, human rights, and good governance. The World Health Organization Information System is the guide to health and health-related epidemiological and statistical information available from the World Health Organization.

International Trade Statistics is an annual report that provides comprehensive, comparable and up-to-date statistics on trade in merchandise and commercial services for an assessment of world trade flows by country, region and main product groups or service categories. The overview explains the main features of trade for the past year, an outlook towards trade in the current year, global trade and output developments, and more. Africa Live Database is a comprehensive database of macroeconomic and sectoral indicators for the Sub-Saharan countries. The database allows the data to be viewed by country as well as by indicator and allows ranking, charting and benchmarking.
The Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), more commonly known within the Islamic Community as the Ankara Centre, provides socio-economic statistics, studies and evaluates social and economic developments, and organizes training programs. The site's statistics database contains data on 174 socio-economic variables under 15 categories and the user can also access special reports on selected indicators.
The Asian Development Bank disseminates recent economic, financial, and social indicators compiled from developing member countries and other international sources. Statistical data covering Asian and Pacific countries is downloadable in PDF format.

The UNECE web site (United Nation Economic Commission for Europe) provides a complete and detailed set of statistic information and data on its 56 member countries. This includes a demographic, a gender, a human settlements and a social/economic trends database. An advanced and user friendly search engine makes the search activity easier.
Latinobarometro is an annual public opinion survey carried out in 17 Latin American countries by the CORPORACIÓN LATINOBARÓMETRO. It expresses the opinions, attitudes, and behaviors of the more than 400 million inhabitants of the region. The results of the polls are available in its annual press release. The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) is a government department devoted to data collection and analysis, and producing and publicizing official statistics. The official website of the Korea National Statistical Office provides a wide range of statistical data regarding the Korean economy, society, and people. It also releases its publication as well as its statistical criteria. The website can be viewed in both English and Korean.
